Votorantim Metais has 10 thousand collaborators in 17 industrial units – 11 in Brazil, four in the United States, one in China and one in Peru.
The company is a world leader in the production of zinc oxide, one of the five major zinc companies and second in the global ranking of zinc dust.
Largest electrolytic nickel manufacturer in Latin America.
The Aluminum Business Unit operates in four factories – in Alumínio city in Sao Paulo (metallurgy) and in the mining cities of Itamarati de Minas (mining and processing), Miraí (mining and processing) and Poços de Caldas (processing).
Nickel operations occur in Fortaleza de Minas (MG) – mining, processing and metallurgy, São Miguel Paulista (SP) – metallurgy – and Niquelândia (GO) – mining and processing.
The Zinc Business Unit operates in ten points: four in Brazil and six abroad: Três Marias (MG), metallurgy and zinc oxide, Juiz de Fora (MG), metallurgy, Vazante (MG), mining and processing, Paracatu (MG), mining and processing, Cajamarquilla (Peru), zinc refinery, U.S.ZINC VM Houston, U.S.ZINC VM Coldwater, U.S.ZINC VM Clarksville, U.S.ZINC VM Millington and Changshu Unit (China).

Mineral Exploration
VM has Mineral Exploration offices in Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Canada, Colombia, Peru and Mexico, with investments of around R$ 100 million (2010 data).
Sustainability
For Votorantim Metais, Sustainability is the strategy which will guide the governance, management, education, product and investment decisions, creating value and respect for the interests of the interested public associated to the company.
The purpose of the company is to be acknowledged as a leader in the insertion of sustainability in the market where it operates. The company invests in water recirculation in its operations, in the waste reutilization, in energetic optimization, in projects for Local Development of its units, to understand the true needs and opportunities to make the economic development feasible.
In this respect, in line with Votorantim Institute’s guidelines, the social projects in the communities where Votorantim Metais operates focus on the comprehensive development of young people, between 15 and 29 years old, prioritizing their education and Professional qualification. About $ 6.5 million were invested in 2010 and this year at least 25 thousand young Brazilian people have benefited from the 30 social projects run by the company in São Paulo, Goiás and Minas Gerais municipalities. The decision to support youths is directly linked to the transforming role they can play in their society.
