More than 2,000 people have so far been benefited, between the months of August and September, by a variety of volunteer activities that have involved hundreds of Votorantim Metais employees in several cities where the company operates in Minas Gerais state. The actions involved recreational activities and visits to children's homes, the refurbishment of charities and initiatives to improve people’s health and quality of life. Among the entities involved are the Association of Volunteers against Cancer, in Poços de Caldas; Casa Lar, in Muriaé, which helps deprived children; and the daycare center Ana Nery, in Cataguases. In Três Marias, Votorantim Metais has worked in partnership with the city hall and the SEST / SENAT System on community health activities, measuring blood pressure and glucose levels. In Paracatu a contest was held among the company’s employees which collected seven tons of food which was then distributed to four local charities. This was the way found by Votorantim employees to celebrate National Volunteer Day, celebrated on August 28.
