With a R$5 billion income in 2007, Votorantim Metals invested and consolidated its presence all over the national territory and abroad during its history. Nowadays, the Nickel and Zinc business areas total 14 manufacturing units in Brazil, Peru, USA and China, seven industrial plants and four owned mines, in addition to offices and sales retailers all over Brazil.
In 2004, following the Votorantim Groups growth policies, VM started its expansion process in the Latin America acquiring the Cajamarquilla Zinc Refinery, in Peru. In the following year, it increased its participation in the country purchasing 24,9% of shares from Companhia Minera Milpo, the fourth mayor zinc miner from Peru. In 2007, Vm allocated R$975 million to the expansion project in Cajamarquilla. In the same year, with a US$295 million investment, VM acquired metallurgy company U.S.ZINC, with five units in the United States and one in China.
In Brazil, the growing rate is also intense. Besides the constant expansions, in 2002, VM acquired the Companhia Paraibuna de Metais and, in the following year, it took control of the Mineradora Serra da Fortaleza. Currently, investments in the Iron/Nickel Project in Niquelândia (GO - Goiás State) stand out, with a R$558 million subsidy, and the Polimetal Project, in Juiz de Fora (MG - Minas Gerais State), with a R$670 million amount.
