Votorantim Metals will participate in the II Brazilian Symposium on Mineral Exploitation - SIMEXMIM 2008, which will take place from May 19th to 21st, in the Arts and Conventions Center of Universidade Federal de Ouro Preto [Federal University of Ouro Preto] (MG). In the main event of the class in the Country, Votorantim Metals will assemble a stand to receive the participants, who will be able to know details of the primary projects of the company in progress in Brazil and overseas.
During the event, Jones Belther, Mineral Exploitation Director of Votorantim Metals will make a lecture on researches of new deposits performed by the company and that in 2008 shall receive investment in the order of R$ 150 million. The lecture will be presented in Ouro Preto Theater and will be an opportunity in order the audience can know the exploitation model developed by the company, which includes the application of best technological practices of the global market, such as remote sensing, aerial and terrestrial geophysics, routine geochemistry and specialized geochemistry for current sediments, soils, rock and probing.
Created in 2004, the Mineral Exploitation Department is responsible for discovery and feasibility of mineral deposits in Brazil and overseas. Presently, Votorantim Metals has offices in Brazil, Bolivia, Peru and Colombia, besides consultants in Argentina, Mexico and Canada. In the whole, there are 100 collaborators acting in these countries.
The company has a portfolio with 68 projects in different stages of development, for zinc and nickel, being 14 of these joint ventures of mineral exploitation with different companies, and it is always searching for new partners for development of new projects in the metal mining area. The most advanced ones are located in Brazil, with Aripuanã and Montes Claros projects, and in Peru, with the Bongará project.
